Coca-Cola
'When You Entertain' Book
Challenge
Coca-Cola's summer ATL campaign was built around the notion of 'Coke and food'. They wanted us to develop a PR story to amplify the campaign.
Approach
I helped develop the concept
of a Coca-Cola cook book, based on my research and uncovering of a 1932 Coca-Cola book “When You Entertain”. This book featured Ida Bailey Allen, an international authority on food and home entertaining, and it encouraged people to buy Coca-Cola to serve at
meal time.
With our in-house PR team, we then enlisted the services of celebrities; Alex James and Liz McClarnon, food blogger Julia Parsons and chef Tom Aikens.
Each created ten recipes, several of which included
Coca-Cola as an ingredient.
Once collated, I then art directed a shoot with food photographer Jon Osborne, home economists and prop stylists. These images were laid out in a book with the recipes, supporting quotes and a raft of historical references from the Coca-Cola archives.
The book was sold as part of
a hamper via a number of premium retailers including Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.
I also oversaw the production
of a series of films staring Tom Aikens; cooking several of the recipes. These were seeded online to give the book a social presence.
