Exposure
SS/13 Installation
Challenge
Exposure opens its doors twice a year to the fashion community, at their Spring/Summer, Autumn/Winter press days. I was tasked with creating a visual theme for the week long event.
Approach
The creative was inspired by detailing, notably fabric cutaways seen in white lace dresses that appeared across many of the collections.
With an extremely tight budget focusing my options for executing the four window displays, I took it back to basics and thought – what could I achieve with a single strip of white paper?
I created an isometric grid, which allowed limitless combinations of triangles to be marked onto a stencil sheet. I then cut through this stencil and the master sheet with two insisions per triangle. This allowed me to fold back each triangle creating a 3D sculpture which was hung in
the window. With the edition of some down-lighting, the display really came to life. It was one of the most successful and talked about press day themes that Exposure had created.
