Oktoberfest
Challenge
PerfectDraft wanted to acknowledge the fact that Oktoberfest was cancelled due to Covid – but with PerfectDraft, customers could still enjoy draft German beer at home.
Approach
We took a two-pronged approach. Firstly, developing a social content series for existing fans to enjoy, driving to further sales online. Secondly, a PR stunt that would reach a new audience, introducing them to the brand.
The ‘How to Oktoberfest’ content series was inspired by absurdist and surreal references such as Monty Python and Wes Anderson. Each of the six films took on a unique aspect of the German beer festival, inspiring UK, French and German beer drinkers to celebrate at home, in the privacy of their own lederhosen.
We developed a toolkit of motion graphic assets which were assembled with a live action video footage, to create a charmingly quirky series.
The PR stunt took over the smallest town in the UK, Llanwrtyd Wells. We brought Bavarian performers, German beer and an oompah band, to the surprise the residents as they woke. We gave away dozens of PefectDraft machines and threw a street party in the town square late into the night. The Mayor even came out to ‘tap’ the first keg! Amongst others, the event was covered by The Sun, The Mirror and the Daily Mail.
