Malta Treasure Hunt Event

Challenge
The Maltese Tourism Authority and Nickelodeon partnered to create a week-long activity in Malta, showcasing key attractions in Valletta. Each venue required branding, activity planning and producing.  

Approach
'Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt – Malta’ did exactly what it said on the tin: A guided treasure hunt around Valletta’s top tourist attractions, with Nickelodeon’s biggest stars at each venue, for families to enjoy for free.

SpongBob SquarePants and his friends took over the National Aquarium. The mezzanine floor became the Bikini Bottom Fun Fair with a host of activities for kids. Downstairs, SpongBob & Patrick led a search for the Krabby Patty Recipe Book, played out on, and in, twenty aquarium tanks.

The Turtles took over the food market with pizza based fun and an augmented reality activation.

The Paw Patrol Pups played their part at the Esplora Science Centre, with science based activities playing to each pups strength. Trike races and an enormous bouncy castle were
a hit with the kids.

St James Cavalier hosted both Nella the Knight’s Castle with ‘professional’ knight training for kids to enjoy. And inside, an exhibition filling five halls showcased Nickelodeons biggest stars and programmes – including workshops, tutorials, interactive elements and a purpose-curated SpongeBob exhibit.

At the centre of Valletta were daily shows in the amphitheatre, featuring a host of Nickelodeon stars alongside actors and dancers. The final day saw a huge parade through the middle of the town with dancers, a marching band and custom built float – featuring four sides, each dedicated to a show, with costume characters.
