The World Service
EP Cover and Logo

Challenge
In my spare time I write music and preform in a band; The World Service. We needed to create an identity and artwork for our debut EP 'Vogel' and the supporting singles from that EP.

Approach
With literally no budget – but of course knowing exactly what had inspired the tracks, I developed an art direction concept based around the bands 'accent colour' blue and snowscapes inspired by the tracks.

Myself and photographer, Nichola Mew created a 'go-bag' of props and equipment and waited (with crossed fingers!) for it to snow in London. We were rewarded a month later and set off at 5am to Hampstead Heath.

The series of images were created by setting off smoke grenades, then continuously shooting as the unnaturally coloured smoke dissipated on the breeze through the snowscape. The resulting images had a eery beauty to them and worked as backgrounds to the EP and single covers, with a simple accompanying logo lozenge.
